My name is Barry Cornwall and this is how it all begun for me, designing and making car venetian blinds.
To be honest l am an automotive fanatic starting with owning and driving my own trucks for a living and then owning and operating one of the largest gearbox & differential reconditioning businesses in Victoria for 30 years. My specialty was diff conversions, 9” and Borg Warner conversions and in most cases retaining original axles and brakes for early model vehicles such as hot rods, cobras, Transits, Bedford’s to name a few, but this extended to late model vehicles also of various makes and models. My passion for anything to do with motor vehicles led me to become involved with motorsport, starting off with speedway then super saloon and sprint cars. I have owned many unique vehicles during my life time and now that I have finished restoring a 59 F100 over the past 12 years, l decided it needed a venetian blind to finish it off. After looking all over the globe for a design that would suit my vehicle and for someone to fabricate it for me and with no luck I decided to make my own. l was looking for a blind that looked sleek and classy, not too big or bold looking, very lightweight and easy to fit.
So at the ripe old age of 67 and with my many years of experience, l decided to use my boiler making skills and vast experience working with metals as l new l could make and design the look l was after.
Success! It looks great, is easy to fit and really finishes my truck off!
